The Kirking 2024: Overview

The Kirking 2024: Overview

On Friday 15th November, the 2024 Kirking Ceremony took place at the historic St Giles’ Cathedral on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile. The event marked the start of Grant Macrae’s term as Master of the Royal Company of Merchants and brought together Company Members and invited guests for an afternoon of celebrations.

The service, livestreamed by the High Kirk on YouTube, saw a strong turnout, including School Captains and students from George Watson’s College and ESMS: Erskine Stewart’s Melville Schools. The pupils’ choral singing and readings were standout moments, adding a special touch to the occasion.

After the ceremony, many guests joined us at Merchants’ Hall for a reception to continue the celebrations.

For those who missed it, the service is still available to watch on the St Giles’ Cathedral YouTube channel. Catch it here: 📽️
